Pathfinders for Autism and the Howard County Autism Society will present a Brown Bag Seminar Series over the coming months covering variety of autism issues.

Each workshop takes place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and will be held at 10280 Old Columbia Road #215 in Columbia.

September 22—ASD and Setting Healthy Limits on the Virtual World: Some individuals are unable to effectively limit their use of electronic media. This presentation will explore the interaction between ASD and electronic media, and resulting challenges.

November 17—Sensory Processing Disorder: Signs, Symptoms, Strategies: A review of the types of sensory challenges and effective assessments, including the specialists best equipped to offer appropriate treatments and introduce life-impacting strategies.

March 29—What Special Education Can (and Can't) Do For Your Child: Many parents of children with autism have questions and concerns regarding special education support for their child that continues to change as their child matures. Understanding what special education is (and isn't) will help you get the most out of your child's school experience. Participants will gain a knowledge of special education laws, and how they play out in local school systems.

May 31—ASD: Sexuality and Social Boundaries: This seminar will discuss ways to protect and promote appropriate social behavior in tweens, teens, and adults with regard to sexuality and the emotional, physical, and legal concerns facing both individuals on the spectrum and their families.
